Carr Mountain 7/30/05
7/30/05
First trip to Carr Mountain
7.2 Miles 2100" Elevation gain
Kevin, Jude and Emma
We climbed the Carr Mountain trail from rte. 25 in Warren. It was a hot but not too humid day for a change, nice shady climb through deciduous forest with many stream crossings, although at this time of year most were nearly dry. Just a trickle running over the stones but enough for Emma to lay down in and cool off. Like most mountains, as we neared the summit the forest turned over to conifers, mostly spruce. A very cool looking water plane buzzed the summit, I assume from nearby Stinson Lake. Then he buzzed again. And again. And again until it became quite annoying to the point where I was thinking about throwing rocks at him. Eventually he stopped and we had the summit to ourselves in peace and quiet on a beautiful summer day. The views were very surprising. It seemed that all of the White Mountains were laid out before us, and as I began to count the peaks I recognized I realized that most of the 4000 footers were visible to our north and east! I decided to include a few of Jude's best shots along with mine as she now is carrying a camera. They are marked JT.
