Georgiana Falls
Franconia Notch
Kevin, Jude and Emma
Whenever we go to the mountains we try to cover some new ground. In ten years we have not run out of new places to visit. This is another one that we will visit and revisit. Georgiana Falls is off of Rte.3 just south of Franconia Notch. We stayed at the Pemi Cabins on Rte. 3 at the recommendation of Emma's friend, Atticus. We were quite pleased with the cabin and would also recommend staying here.
A short walk from here is the trailhead to Georgiana Falls. These are some of the nicest cascades we have been to and we were nicely surprised by them. We had endeavoured to view them before, but didn't for reasons I no longer remember. I'm glad we visited them this time. It is a short hike to reach the first falls and as you climb beside the river the falls increase in intensity and beauty the further up you go.
There are many fine pools that would make great places to cool off in hotter weather. I'm guessing it's pretty crowded there in the heat of summer. It certainly was nice to be alongside these falls in spring as the flowers were blooming and there was still plenty of snowmelt along with the recent rains to provide ample supply to the drops and pools along the river. There were plenty of wildflowers along the trail and riverbanks to make it a pleasant walk in all aspects. An excellent diversion.
