Emma's Cairn- Piper, Belknap, Gunstock 5-4-19

This year Riley joined us on our annual "Emma Hike". Each year on thius date we hike to this spot on Belknap Mountain. There is a cairn and it has views east and north across Lake Winnipesaukee, across the Ossipee and Range, and north to the mountains Emma loved. On the cairn is a bright yellow "E" for Emma, and also a bright yellow "L" for Lauky, another accomplished hiking dog. There are a few more represented that we didn't know. We are happy and thankful to Hal, long-time trail maintainer, fire-tower look out man, and all-around decent human being who took the time to build this cairn and include our beloved Emma in the role-call. Each year the return is bittersweet as we retrace the steps with her on this trail, the very last we would hike with her in this world...
